The math-quiz fundamentals of CrazyMinute are now available in a fun, falling-problem game exclusively for iPad. Created by a parent and a primary-school teacher, MathNight is a fun math quiz on basic facts with a myriad of problem variations and a novel interface.

Multiple math problems fall from the sky, each one slightly faster than the last, and are sent back upward with playful sound effects to reward correct answers. The digitBar™ interface dedicates one finger or thumb to the ones place and one to the tens place, so students can quickly enter and correct answers with two hands, reinforcing an important understanding of how numbers are built. Created for everyone, there is no text used anywhere in the game: all interaction is stripped-down to the essential meanings of numbers, math symbols, and a few colored buttons, making it perfect for early readers and teachers worldwide.

Each game can review skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication or division; players can choose quizzes from a range of random values (from 0 through an upper-bound) or against a fixed value (to focus on just “your 8s” for example). Designed for positive reinforcement, problems remain on the screen until answered correctly, so there is no penalty other than lost time for typos or incorrect attempts.

Whatever skill level you work on, practicing basic math facts helps all math students create a solid foundation for working easily with all types of mathematics, and will help students progress quickly through the “Mad Minute” quizzes given daily in many schools’ early grades.

How many can you answer before one lands at the bottom?
